Sophie is the new Science and Communications Intern at TIDE. She is from Austin, Texas and has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, with a minor in Spanish, from Rhodes College, in Memphis, TN. Sophie lived in Punta Gorda for a month in 2014, and had hoped to work at TIDE ever since. Sophie has also lived in Ecuador, studying comparative ecology, and hopes to undertake a further studies in marine ecology and conservation in the near future. Her love for marine biology began when she started scuba diving at the age of twelve. Sophie is excited to combine her skills and education in order to contribute to the mission and vision of TIDE.

Haley is the Education and Outreach Intern at TIDE. She grew up near Toronto, Ontario, and studies on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. She is working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Resource Management Geography from Vancouver Island University. Haley coordinated the 2016 TIDE Summer Camp, and has helped on other projects at TIDE such as the Freshwater Cup and Reef Guardians program. Haley was previously an art teacher for children, and is familiar with creating and delivering interesting lessons. Her internship at TIDE combines her studies and her past work experience perfectly. Haley is volunteering through the QE II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship Internship Program, and will be at TIDE until September of 2016.
