With TIDE’S wealth of knowledge in managing three protected areas, TIDE’s staff are well versed and trained to offer a range of trainings catered to the needs of the general public.
Fire Management
Mr. Mario Muschamp, TIDE's Terrestrial Manager, has been working with fire since the early 2000s and has trained numerous international professionals and hundreds of locals in the good face of fire.
Drone Operation
TIDE started working with Drones through an EU Project with staff being trained by an international expert. Also over multiple years TIDE's PA Manager has also received numerous hours of local training in drone operation and image analysis whereby he has become our inhouse expert.
Marine Monitoring
TIDE has been leading research and monitoring efforts in southern Belize since its inception in 1997. Through our program with Ecology Project International, TIDE has trained numerous international students in different forms of marine monitoring and scores of community researchers who have come to be Environmental Stewards, Tour Guides, Marine Biologist, Dive Instructors, Senators and Teachers.
SMART Training
TIDE started using SMART (Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool) in 2015 with help from WCS. Since then TIDE has incorporated the data gathered from SMART into its planning phases at all levels in an effort to streamline the process of field data collection to action.
Tours
Through its primary objectives of providing an alternative and sustainable means of livelihood for area residents, helping to reduce poverty in the Toledo District by introducing more profitable economic opportunities, and to generate funding for TIDE’s conservation work TIDE Tours has become the premier tour operating company in southern Belize.
