TIDE have been supporting students financially for over 25 years in Toledo. A report on TIDE’s scholarship program since it’s inception undertaken by Dr. Carolyn Henri reveals the following statistics (Full PDF):
This year TIDE Scholarship Coordinator Ishiamae Gomez, took the program to the next level by visiting schools in 5 new communities (Cuxlin Ha, San Marcos, Indian Creek, Golden Stream, and Bella Vista) and opening the door for 20 more students to receive financial assistance (school books, and in some cases school fees and uniforms!).
As part of the requirements to be a TIDE Scholarship recipient students must commit to 60 hours of community service (per school year), this can take a range of forms from clean up campaigns to assisting school libraries or working with fajina groups. Students must also pass all forms in order to continue receiving assistance.
This year (2023-2024) TIDE will be assisting a total of 52 students from 15 communities. Our program is full this year, but if you are interested in applying for next year (2024-2025) please fill out an application form and drop it to TIDE.
